3 Creative Recipes from 3 (possibly) Bored Women
Posted at 1:45 AM
I actually am very interested in materializing these recipes. Not just posting them up to add content and colour to my blog. I am actually going to try them. Because these are recipes created for lazy people who don't know how to cook (hence the use of a crock pot to make casserole). And because aesthetics plays a big part in food for me, I included a recipe that had the finished product wrapped in patterned paper and ribbon. The other recipe uses apple rings to make pancakes, which is just, like, whoa.

Behold...the Crock Pot Breakfast Casserole. Serves 12 you selfish bastards. Recipe by Kristin from Iowa Girl Eats.
In Malaysia, we call this Chinese fried egg rice if we don't know the ingredients.
Ingredients:
- 30oz bag frozen hash browns
- 1lb sausage, browned & drained
- 8oz shredded cheddar cheese
- 8oz shredded mozzarella cheese
- 6 green onions, sliced and divided in half
- 12 eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
Directions:
- Spray a large crock pot with non-stick spray then place half the hash browns into the bottom. Layer in half the cooked sausage, half the cheeses, and half the green onions, then repeat hash brown, sausage, and cheese layers.
- In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, and pepper, then drizzle over top. Cook on high for 4 hours, or low for 8 hours, or until eggs are set. Serve with remaining green onions, salsa, or guacamole.

According to recipe creator Nicole Moss (from Heat Oven to 350), she made these Vermont Maple Apple Rings because "The nesting phase hit. And it's Spring Cleaning time. And we get to have my mom come and stay with us for two whole weeks after the baby is born." Justification. Anyway, this recipe serves 2-3 human beings.
Ingredients
- 2 medium apples, pared and cored
- 1 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/2 cup buttermilk or sour milk (see note) plus more to adjust for consistency
- Vermont maple syrup
Directions
- Slice apples crosswise into 1/8" thick rings. (a mandolin slicer works great for this)
- Whisk together flour, baking power, baking soda and salt. Beat in eggs and buttermilk (or sour milk), mixing just until incorporated.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-low heat and grease lightly. Dip apple rings into batter and allow excess batter to drip off. If the batter is too thick, add more buttermilk, one tablespoon at a time, until it is thick enough to stick to the apple ring, but thin enough to have excess drip off. You might want to cook a test apple ring to make sure the batter is to your liking before adding too much milk.
- Cook apple rings on skillet until golden brown, turning once. Skillet temperature is important here because if the skillet is too hot, the outside dough will burn before the apple inside starts to soften. Once again, you'll probably want to try a test apple ring and adjust the skillet temperature before cooking a bunch of rings at once.
- Serve immediately with maple syrup.
Note: To make sour milk, add 1 1/2 tsp vinegar to 1/2 cup regular milk

The Smell of Summer

I was reading about Mary Pearson's go-to places for chilling out in California, and found that I share the same taste in outdoor dining with the singer-performer of High Places. These are the beautiful places that I wish I could frequent were I in California:
Casita Del Campo in Silver Lake:
Look at all dat cheese mmm yum yum
Pink is in. No really, it's a SS13 trend.
800 Degrees in Westwood
Mmm yum yum.
Cacao Mexicatessen in Eagle Rock
Dat Mexican condiments stuff thing.
Mmm yum yum.
Dat sauce bar.
Inn of the Seventh Ray in Topanga
It's so pretty.
Mmm yum yum.
A non-discriminating magical woodland where humans, hobbits, and herbs can gather and be merry.
This is one example of why Californians like to pretend they are French.
She also talked about places she went to for recreational activities, like hiking in Los Liones and Palos Verdes or just watching a movie at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery:
Los Liones
Palos Verdes

I am not a fan of hardcore techno house mashup clubbing styles, I don't even think I understood what I said, but, if I could take my girlfriends with me to the golden beaches of Ibiza and party all night long at the beach, then why the heck not. I'll just stay away from nightclubs with pole-dancing installations.
Just look at it!! It's like a pirate-themed paradise, with a touch of glam!
and the best......

Food, Glorious Food

Could you pass the Doritos, please? Thanks. Oh, and the soda. Hey, I can't finish it so just dunk it in the wastebin for me, will you? Thanks.
So we have too much food for our own good, and yet we can't even save a crumb. We overeat, then we discard the rest. How about mailing the crumbs abroad and seeing how many babies crawling over to get it? Even a crumb is precious to them and they will fight over it.
Pearl Warts from Chanel
Posted at 1:33 AM
A bee came and told me that Chanel has just created a new trend of body art: Pearl Warts.
There's still space for correction. No, it is not a trend yet. If it catches on, I will both be annoyed and relieved.
Annoyed because people buy into trends so easily when they can just as easily create their own. It isn't so hard to think of a pearl wart trend, ya know?
Relieved because I will not have to worry about popping my pus-filled pimples anymore. I just have to enter the streets concealer-free and wear a proud grin telling everyone I got my pearl warts at a price of next to nothing. Plus mine is all-natural.
Tho models look like they have white blood oozing out of their pustules. In an elegant mermaid way.
