Blue Mountain Coffee, Anyone?

Posted at 11:35 AM

This post doubles as an update request by Weili and also as an account of a magical Christmas dinner at the Koit residence :D Wait this is also a silent hint to Jasmine to take me out to KL in the morning heheh.

This time it's potluck, and children are invited. That means there's plenty of unfinished, cold food and shrieking and lap climbing and iPad fondling. One kid decided my lap was his new watchtower and planted a foot deeply into my crotch area. The pain was easily ignored as I could occupy myself with a Transformer's Bumblebee toy. YAY I transformed it back into a car YAY!

My favorite dishes were the Grilled Aubergines, and..the Roast Ham which was served at 2am. Intermissions in the Koit house are usually long because of animated chatter and alcohol downing. These will then be followed by a sit-down at the couch for some Pink Floyd vids. Wine and cheese gets passed around, chocolate wrappings litter the floor, Justin starts juggling wine bottles, Josiah entertains what remains of the shrieking iPad fondlers, the women talk about men, and the men listen to the women talking about men.

The families leave, the children disappear, and the house fills with smoke that stings the eyes. I head out to the balcony, otherwise my eyes will start to water due to the smoke and then my eyeliner will smear everywhere and I'll look so weird. I didn't realize that the view could be so hypnotic, just like the Pink Floyd music playing behind me, and the Roast Ham smoke I tried to escape from. I also realized that Christmas does not neccesarily need to be like the Christmas you see in TV New York. It can be quiet at 2am. It's alright to feel so awake and flabby at 2am when you think you should be heavily intoxicated and counting down to something.

This feels just right. This is a nice way to spend Christmas. I think about these things as I head to the toilet. Then Uncle Jeff calls me over. He's about to perform coffee chemistry with his scientific coffee-making tool. We watch in awe. Admire the art. Consumer the art. Blue Mountain, this is how you taste like. So far as a coffee-hater I'm not much of a Blue Mountain hater.

Forgot to mention that Uncle Jeff is a great singer and guitarist when it comes to entertaining guests. Jasmine, please take me to Bukit Bintang to kai-kai.

Merry Christmas, all! :)
